How to split a large digital product into Etsy ZIP files
A ZIP does not bypass Etsy’s upload limit. Each uploaded file—including a ZIP—must fit the per-file cap, and a digital listing has five upload slots.
The free planner below reads file names and sizes locally, identifies any single file that cannot fit, and estimates a buyer-visible ZIP split. Your files never leave this device.
1. Check individual source files first
If one source file is already too large, putting it in a ZIP may not solve the problem. Most creative file formats are already compressed, and the finished archive also needs room for its directory, manifest, and buyer instructions.
2. Keep the delivery within five clear ZIPs
Divide the folder into packages that are easy for a buyer to recognize. Prefer stable groups such as the main product, alternate formats, extras, and documentation rather than arbitrary “part” folders.

Buyers see the names of the uploaded files. Use a recognizable product slug and numbered parts, avoid unexplained abbreviations, and include a short README when the delivery needs opening or printing instructions.
4. Verify the finished archives
A planning estimate is useful, but the final ZIP size is authoritative. Marketplace Package Compiler generates the recipient-specific archives locally, adds buyer instructions and a checksum manifest, and verifies every finished Etsy ZIP against the configured limit before download.
When the folder still does not fit
If more than five archives are required, reduce redundant files, move optional bonuses into a separate product, or reconsider the delivery structure. Do not silently degrade product quality merely to force a pass.
